Adding Binary Associations

As well as defining topic types the other main schema construct are association templates. An association template describes the way in which instances of different topic types can be connected together.

 

The process of creating an association template is very simple. With two topic types on the canvas simply place the mouse over one of the types, click and drag the line that appears to the other topic type. The following dialog will then appear.

Enter the details regarding the relationship and role, names and subject identifiers. Once the association template is defined you may need to move the shapes to see the display clearly, or alternatively use the Run Layout... action button to have the editor automatically rearrange the items on the diagram.
