Single Server Deployment

This is the simplest configuration. It is the only configuration supported by the Developers' Edition installation. You can also create this configuration on an existing SQL Server database by installing the Complete Server Installation and specifying the local SQL database server as your target database.

Advantages

With this configuration you have the advantage that you can use the built-in accounts Network Service and Local Service to run the Web3 Windows services and the Web3 portal application pool.

Disadvantages

A critical feature of this deployment is that both the database and the Web3 cache server will have relatively high memory requirements, therefore you should ensure that your machine has enough physical RAM to support both the database and the Web3 cache service (we recommend an absolute minimum of 4GB RAM and a 64-bit OS to take full advantage of all available memory). You should also attempt to locate the web server and the database files on different physical disks to maximize disk throughput. On a virtual machine deployment you should try to ensure that the host machine allocates sufficient physical RAM to the virtual machine to avoid memory swapping as this can significantly degrade performance.
